The Dog House

This part of my page is dedicated to my old friend, Muggs,
who walked many miles with me in thirteen years.
Truly... a once in a lifetime dog.

Hello!  I'm Spanky!....and I'm proof that God has a sense of humor!

And I'm Miss Daisy...... they adopted me from Boxer Rescue!!!

Both Spanky and Daisy are gone now. I miss them both, and I will be forever grateful that they were in my life. They gave so much to me....always loving, always giving, and always forgiving.

Hi!... and my name is Betsy, and I'm the new adoptee around here!! I am so happy!! One more day and they were going to put me to sleep at the animal control place. I heard them talking as they put that big red "E" on my cage.... I was so scared.

Howdee!! ...and I'm Mick!!... the newest member of the family!! I was abandoned and staying at a rescue place, but now I'm Betsy's best friend in my new home here. Well, I think Betsy and I really have two best friends... each other and our mom.

If you have a pet, I do hope that you are a responsible pet owner, giving not only good care, but lots of love. Your pet, be it a dog or cat, hamster or horse, is totally dependent upon you... for food, shelter, proper health care, exercise, training, and for love and affection. Notice sometime when you come home at the end of your day, how happy your "Spanky" is to see you...that sparkle in his eye, that butt-wagging tail. He loves you, without boundary, without condition. So many animals are not loved in return. So many are neglected and treated cruelly...put out to the dumpster or to the side of the road, or to live their lives tied up, left out in the heat or the cold, endless day after day without love and attention.

Please read Lacy's story

There are countless animals out there....wanting to be loved and to give love...who are euthanized every year because there is no room for them at the shelters...and because there is no room in someone's heart and home and life to take them in.

If you are thinking of taking a dog into your heart and home, please consider looking at your local Humane Society or a rescue organiation. If your heart is set on a particular breed, there are non-profit Rescue Leagues all over the United States that have abandoned, neglected and/or abused dogs and puppies, just waiting for someone to love. Or if you might be interested in helping with the rescue program, or fostering a dog....You can do a search on the internet for a specific breed.

Just Google, for example "Boxer rescue Tennessee"

A good site for finding a pet is Petfinder.com

If you live in the East Tennessee/Western North Carolina area, there is an all breed non-profit rescue organization called Helping Paws. Pay them an online visit...or give them a call at 423-638-4278

And here is a great rescue organization in the Atlanta area if you might be interested in a Dachshund.

PLEASE think twice about purchasing a dog at a pet shop, for most pet shops obtain their puppies from puppy mills where conditions and treatment are unbelievably deplorable.

And, please view the video on the above pet store link.

And remember, please.... spay and neuter!!!
